From June through mid-August, downtown Chelsea is a hub of excitement with live entertainment, special exhibits, activities for the kids and much more with the 42nd Annual Chelsea Sounds and Sights Festival. The Zou is thrilled to support this spectacular festival and encourages you to check out the schedule of events at https://chelseafestivals.com. On Thursday evenings, during the Chelsea Sounds and Sights Festival, the Zou is launching our new Twilight Thursday Summer Music Series, 7 – 9 p.m. every Thursday starting 6/6 through 8/15 featuring the talents of our Thursday Open Mic guest artists including Annie Capps, Sam Corbin, Rochelle Clark, Rollie Tussing, Dave Boutette, and Judy Banker.
Tonight, guest artist Sam Corbin takes the stage. Sam Corbin is an Ypsilanti based performing songwriter and member of the Earthwork Music Collective. With influences ranging from the thought provoking troubadours of Greenwich Village to the soul singers of Detroit, Sam writes honest and meaningful songs drawn from day to day life. His third and most recent album titled “Let The Fire Burn Strong” released in the early winter of 2016 was named by John Bommarito (Ann Arbor’s 107.1 FM) as his #1 album of 2016.
Sam started playing guitar at 16, and shortly after graduating high school he joined a band, playing shows at local bars and coffee shops. Over the years music became his passion, his lifestyle, and his outlet for creativity. It has taken him on the road to music festivals and theatres, radio stations and television, listening rooms, and smoky bars. He has traveled and performed in many states across the East Coast, Midwest, and the South. In 2010, Sam joined the Earthwork Music Collective, a group of musicians working together to build community and self-awareness through the art of music in the state of Michigan and beyond.
Sam plays in many configurations, and is seen often with fellow Earthwork Music artist Jen Sygit! Together they formed the band Lincoln County Process featuring Michael Smalley, Geoff Lewis, and Mike Lynch. More recently, Sam has been promoting his latest album “Let The Fire Burn Strong” and has been bringing out his full band for shows across Michigan.
