The Zou is pleased to be hosting two stellar artists who come from the best of  Michigan music family lineage — Emily Slomovits and Billy King.  They will be performing solo sets and joining each other on songs and making music that will lift the roof off the Zou.  Don’t miss this chance to see Emily and Billy share an evening of music-making!

As a seasoned performer, songwriter and recording artist, Billy King’s presence in the independent music scene brings an original blend of rootsy folk/pop with an occasional touch of country swing. Billy’s versatility as a multi-genre singer-songwriter is matched by his ability on a wide range of instruments, from guitar and banjo to keyboards and accordion. Traversing intimate acoustic venues, major festival stages, and popular rural gatherings, King performs with a lightness, dynamism, and sincerity.

Emily Slomovits has been present in the Ann Arbor music scene for over ten years. She frequently joins her dad and uncle, the duo Gemini, onstage, and plays fiddle and sings with the trio San, Emily and Jacob, and many other musicians, including Billy King, Annie and Rod Capps, Jill Jack, Judy Banker, and Billy Brandt. Lately, Emily has begun to develop a solo career, mixing inventive covers of folk, rock and pop tunes with her own wistful songwriting style.
